Why do we need LifeWalk?
  • Dallas leads the state of Texas in new HIV infections
  • Dallas has more than 20,000 individuals that are HIV-infected
  • The Center for Disease Control estimates that an additional 30% are infected and DO NOT KNOW THEIR STATUS
  • AIDS is the third leading cause of death for Latinos
  • African Americans, Latinos and gay youth make up the fastest growing groups of new HIV infections in the United States
  • African American men make up nearly 50% of all new AIDS cases in the United States
  • More than one million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS, with approximately 40,000 new infections each year.
  • Our work is far from over…
